Evand Halim
Evand Halim, M.Hum is a linguist, language trainer, teacher trainer, and a sworn translator. He graduated cum laude from the Graduate School of Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia in Applied English Linguistics. Evand’s passionate interest in translation and the legal language has led him to be known as an authority on legal translation.
He holds a Certificate in “Teaching English for Law”, from Nashville State Community College (Sponsored by the Office of English Language Programs, U.S. Department of State).
Evand is currently teaching LEGAL TRANSLATION, LEGAL DRAFTING and ENGLISH FOR LAW courses both on campus (Atma Jaya Catholic University & University of Indonesia) and in a number of prominent companies and firms in Indonesia. Besides, he has been requested several times to conduct workshops and courses on topics relating to legal English (Legal Translation, English for Law, Legal Drafting) at the Ministry of State Secretariat of RI, Ministry of Finance of RI, RELO resource center (Department of State, US Embassy), and the faculty of law of various universities.
Evand is now a faculty member at the Graduate School of Atma Jaya University, Department of Applied English Linguistics and he is also on the Examination Board for the Translators’ Qualifying Exam (known as ‘UKP’, Ujian Kualifikasi Penerjemah), a prerequisite exam for those who wish to become sworn translators in the Republic of Indonesia.
